Johnny Cakes Makes It a Triple Decker with it's 3rd Straight Win. Ever since Clay Petry took over as Johnny Cakes manager, they've been on a tear. Today it was the glove and bat of the MVPete DeFrank(4-4). This guy is gutsy, he likes to get dirty and he can even throw guys out while sitting on his A$$! Pete Got things started in the 1st with a single up the middle. Matt Siekierka singled and Clay Petry singled to load the bases. Ryan Goodrich singled in the 1st run and Lee Udin walked in another. Marshall Baines scored a 3rd run with a fielder's choice and with two outs the leagues most improved player Sammer Sawe(2-2) singled in another. So it's Cakes 4-0 after one. They add another in the 2nd after 2 walks, another Pete DeFrank single and a Clay Petry fielder's choice. La Cosa gets on the board in the 3rd after Kyle Francis reached on error, Jake Spielberger walked, Ron Liebowitz(2-3) singled and Steve Horowitz hit a sac fly. But the Cakes are mixing tonight and they have another big inning. Marshall Baines singled, Paul Martino walked and Slammer Sawe ripped another single. (not a typo, BTW). Ira Robbins walked in a run and Jigar Desal hit another RBI fielder's choice. Then came the funniest play of the night. Pete DeFrank hit a dribbler towards first that the catcher tied to chase down leaving home plate vacant. That allowed two runs to score for an 9-1 lead. La Cosa picked up some runs in the 6th after Gary Drilling and Dean Sottile singled, Shawn Spielberger walked to load the base. Paul Martino strikes out his 3rd batter for the game before Chris Mazur blasts a 3 RBI double. Jon Drillings singled in a 4th run to tighted the game to 9-6. But Pete DeFrank takes the wind out of their sails after John Boeckel walked he tripled down the line to left. Two walks later Johnny Cakes picks up their 4 run on a fielders choice. This time off the bat of Lee Udin. La Cosa manages to get 1 run in the 7th after Ron Liebowitz(2-3) doubled but that's it. La Cosa Nostra drops their 2nd straight game.
