Without the Killer Bees, La Kosher Nostra Takes the Honey, 19-10 over Corleone. It was a sweet and much needed win for La Kosher Nostra, who even their record to 2-2. Corleone was playing with only 9 (missing Killer Bees Baginski and Blicht) and LKN found all the gaps in the hive. Corleone put up a fight early taking a quick 3-0 lead after one. Dave Plishka singled, Ken O'Brien(4-5) singled, Mark Spotto singled in the first run. A throwing error on the play scored another. Mark scored on a fielder's choice and just like that, Corleone was up 3-0. La Kosher doesn't score in the bottom. Corleone's Steve Bollander (a Killer Bee in his prime) showed he still has some sting left and singled to start the 2nd. With one out Dave Plishka singled and it looks like Corleone is going to have another big inning. Then came the play that took the sting out of Corleone offense. Ken O'Brien drills a line drive over short that somehow Jay Glickson was able to get up high enough to snag. He picks off the runner at second and the inning is over, no runs. La Kosher wastes no time rallying off that play as Pat McNamara singled to start the 2nd and Max Metz(2-3) blasted a triple in the large gap in right center. Malachi Metz(3-3) followed with a line drive double to left and Joel Orris doubled to tie the score with a ball down the right field line. After an error Ken Nemeth(3-3) who had a big day also, singled in the first of his 4 RBIs. Evan Orris followed that with an RBI single before Corleone gets a strikeout to end the inning. LKN is up 5-3. Corleone comes back with 3 to regain the lead after Mark Spotto doubled and lone Bee Brad Bennis blasted a deep homer to tie the score 5-5. Hadar Sieradzky singled and Chris Capobianco tripled to put Corleone up 6-5. That lead didn't last long as LKN just turned over their 14 player lineup. The bottom of the 3rd was a slugfest as 10 of 11 LKN batter's singled and Malachi Metz hit his 2nd double of the game. With 8 runs scored in the inning already, LKN only had one out and the top of the order coming up, but Corleone gets a double play to end the inning. LKN is up 13-6. Corleone fights back for 2 more in the 4th after Dave Plishka reached by error, Ken O'Brien singled and Mark Spotto hits the right center spot with for a double. Corleone is hanging on, down 13-8. Ryan McNamara singled to start the bottom of the 4th and Brian Cass shows some Bee power with a 2 run homer to left. LKN is up 15-8.Corleone's Ken O'Brien, who wants to be a killer bee too, had an impressive day going 4-5 and homered in the 5th to pull Corleone within 5. But LKN pick up 4 more in the bottom of 5 to put this one away. Keyed by Greg Auerbach and Ken Horan's back to back doubles. I guess both teams were tired and neither team scored in the 6th or 7th. LKN takes this sweet victory 19-10 and pulls themselves up 5 spots in the standings. Now that's some Kosher honey!
