The Irish Bagman, Aric Bernstein's 1st LVC Grandslam Helps Bring Down the House 11-6. With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 4th, Irish rookie Calvin Kwock singled before John DeLuca crushed a double to left. Irish bookends Dave Kaiser(3-3) batting last and Ralph Fariello(4-4) batting 1st, both singled before Ryan Smith(2-3) singled to set the stage for rookie Aric Bernstein(3-4). With the bases juiced and the Irish up by just one, Aric delivered an opposite field homer over the right center fence. The Irish add another in the 5th with 2 outs after John DeLuca singled, Dave Kaiser picked up his 3rd hit to load the bases for Ralph Fariello who singled in Jim Morris(2-3). La Cosa made a great play to end the inning with the Irishman up 11-4. But La Cosa got their house in order in the 6th with Shawn Spielberger leading off with a single. Jason Abfier(2-3) singled and Ralph Avallone went opposite for a run. Dave Schachman(2-3) singled in another. La Cosa Nostra is only down 5 with one out when Irish 1st baseman John DeLuca makes a rally killing play. Way off first John snagged a hard grounder of the bat of LCN manager Dean Sottile. It looked like a sure hit but John was able to throw the runner out at second before he pulled his hamstring on the play. In the bottom of the 6th the Irish have 1st and 3rd with no outs, but a 1-4-3 double play and a fly out strand the runner at 3rd. LCN goes down 1,2,3 in the 7th and the Irish collect their 2nd win of the season while La Cosa Nostra drops to 1-1.
