Macon Serves up 4 Eggs and a Side of Bacon to Toast the Pirates in Extra Innings 11-9. Jon Cocchio has been ripping the shells off the ball, 3 homers tonight, and seems to be on a mission this season. It was a great back and forth battle so I will make this write-up a bit longer. Macon got the scoring going in the 1st when Brian Guatta singled and Jon followed with his 1st of 3 homers on the night. Steve (feeling good) Deblasio(3-3) followed with a walk and scored on a throwing error. Bacon is up 3-0. The Pirates answer back after Mark Davis walked and with two out Max Metz blasted a bomb to left center up in the trees. Bacon leads 3-2 after 1. In the 3rd Ken O'Brien singled, Jon is walked and Steve Deblasio singled to grease the Bacon lead to 4-2. It could have been a lot more if not for the glove of Greg Auerbach who scooped a ball at first, tagged the runner going to second and gunned Brian Guatta out at the plate. One of the finest plays I have seen at LVC which could put Greg in the runner for best fielder. With momentum in their sails the Pirates steal the lead in the 4th with 3 runs on singles by Malachi Metz, Greg Auerbach, David Reiss and a big two out double by Abe Heller. Pirates are up 5-4. The lead doesn't last long as Jon Cocchio homered in the 5th, Steve Deblasio and Seth Friedman single and Matt (Baconberger) Eisenberger hit a sac fly and Macon is back up 6-5. The Pirate get some bottom of the order magic when Mike Kideckel singled and Neil Ascione doubled, the the top of the order only manages a sac fly. It's tied up 6-6. In the top of the 7th Ken O'Brien singled and tagged and was almost thrown out at 2nd, then after some rule disscussions about walking Cocchio Jon blased his 3rd homer to put Macon up by two. Steve Deblasio surprised the Pirates with a gaper to right center that he stretched to an inside the park homer, their 4th homer (eggs) of the night. Macon is up 3 9-6. The bottom of the Pirates order comes through after Abe Heller leads off with a single? on a ball that was bobbled 3 times by the shortstop. Dave Richmond doubled and with two outs and trailing by 1, Neil Ascione walked and Mark Davis singled. Then a ball went through the wickets at short to tie the game and Macon elects to walk Malachi Metz with 1st base open and the winning run at thrid. It worked as the next batter flew out so it's on to extra's. The bottom of the Bacon lineup comes up big after Rick Fardo(4-4) singled for the 4th time and with one out Mike Levine sneaks one just off the bag at third (which may have been in foul territory). With two outs Brian Guatta gets a run in when the pitcher couldn't handle the toss at first and Jonathan Cocchio is intentionally walked which scored another run as Jon got 2nd. The Pirates load the bases but can't score and Macon Bacon picks up their 1st win of the season
