Game Highlights
Rider's Defy the Odds and Upset the Top Seeded Mets with Great Defense. (not a misprint!) This was a pitchers duel with just 20 total hits combined. Riders had 11 of them and the Mets just 9. It was the middle of the Rider's lineup that did most of the damage with Victor Cardona and Brian Cass scoring the teams 4 runs. The Rider's score first after Victor Cardona doubled off the fence, Brian Cass walked. Casey Nix hit a deep fly out that both runners tagged. With 2nd and 3rd and two outs Ron Liebowitz drilled a liner down first that looked like it went though the 1st baseman's glove for a 2 RBI single. Mets answer back n the bottom of the 2nd when Bob Plishka singled and reached 3rd on an outfield error. Then Derek Lynn singled him home. 2-1 Riders after 2. In the 4th both teams add 2 more. Riders Jared Kuropatkin singled, Brian Cass(2-2) singled and Case Nix hits a 2 out RBI single to center. Ron Liebowitz(2-3) singled again and Mark Fedele(2-3) get, what turned out to be the game winning RBI on a single off the pitchers glove. Mets answer back when Bob Plishka(2-3) singled and scored on a double by Rob Thomas. Rob scored on a single by Nick Catanese. It's 4-3 Riders after 4. The big play of the game was in the 5th after Kevin Jr singled with 2 outs, Dave Plishka hit what looked like a sure double to right but somehow Kay Klele jumps and snowcones the ball for the last out. After a shaky year defensively, the Rider's defense comes though with some big plays and the Rider's are now in the Finals to play Macon with just a 15 minute break.
