Hold on to Your Banana, We're Going To Extras. In the best game of the day, Clay Petry's Savanna Bananas take on David Plishka's Mets in an 8 inning thriller. The Banana's pealed out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st after the hot Ryan Coletti(3-4) singled and moved to 3rd on a double by Clay Petry. Levi Henninger is walked to load the bases and Jason Hamberger helps break the tie with a 2 RBI single. With two outs St Lucie's Derek Lynn singled and scored after Rick Beyer and Bob Plishka (back from the IR) both singled. Bananas are up 2-1. The bananas go green in the 2nd and 3rd innings and St Lucie grabs the lead in the 2nd after Andrew Conroy singled and with one out Gary Drillings singled. Nick Cantanese manages to drive in a run with a ground out to the pitcher and Jason Rhodes(1-1) singled to give the Mets their first lead 3-2. In the bottom of the 3rd Mets score again after David Plishka doubled, Pete DeFrank singled and with two outs Bob Plishka comes through again with an RBI single. Mets are up 4-2. The Bananas cut the lead to 1 in the 4th after Jason Hamberger led off with a walk, Kyle Francis singled and Ken Horan singled in Jason. The inning ended on a nice double play. St Lucie can't score in the bottom as Gary Drillings is gunned down at home after a double by Nick Catanese. The Bananas regain the lead in the 6th when Ryan Coletti hit his 3rd single, Clay Petry(3-4) singled and again Levi Henninger is walked. Jason Hamberger(3-3) gets his 4th RBI with a single. Banana is up 5-4. The Met's tie the score after David Plishka dobuled to right and scored on a Derek Lynn(3-4) single. Neither team scored in the 7th. The Bananas go up 2 in the 8th after Clay Petry singled and Levi Henninger homered. The Banana's are 3 outs away from an opening day win and the Met's have their bottom of the order due up. With one out Kevin Jr gets a big single. The next batter hits a comebacker to the picher and when the ball pops out of his glove he can't get the runner at second. David Plishka singled to load the bases with one out and trailing by 2. The next batter hits a sac fly to bring up Derek Lynn with two outs. Derek drills a deep double just off the glove of the diving Clay Petry. Dave Plishka scores from first and the Mets peel the Banana's 8-7.
