It Ain't Over Till the Big Guy Leaves. In an epic battle the Rail Riders steam past the Bananas in 9 long innings. Banana's pitcher Levi Henninger had to leave after 8 innings and Clay Petry came in for relief. The Rail Riders tracked up a 14-6 lead after 6 innings led by Brian Cass and Kay Klele who had 6 RBI's on the night. But their defense fell apart in the bottom of the 6th when it started getting a bit dark. The Banana's rallied for 9 runs to take a 15-14 lead into the top of the 7th. The inning started with two errors and then Ken Horan blasted a triple to DEEP right center. Rich Heim singled in Ken and then after two outs sub Mal Metz beat the right fielder for a double. Rail Riders then make their 3rd error for the inning and Clay Petry makes them pay with a bloop double scoring Ryan. Jason Wertheimer singled in Clay to tie the game at 14-14 and both Levi Henninger and Ken Horan single to put the Bananas up by 1. In the top of the 7th with 1 out, Jay Glickson reached on error and with two outs Don Trifari singled. The Hot Brian Cass(5-6) singled to tie the game at 15. Joe Orris(4-6) pushed the Raiders up by one with a single and Kay Klele surprised everyone with a deep triple to center to score 2 more. The Rail Riders are up by 3 going into the bottom of the 7th. Kevin Rosin reached on error and with one out Mal Metz singled past 2nd. Ryan Coleti singled, Clay Petry is up with the bases loaded and a homer would win it. Clay homered in the 3 inning, could he do it again? Clay dills a one hopper off the short stops glove and two runs score. The throw in from the outfield gets by the 2nd baseman and Ryan scores to tie it and Clay moves over to 2nd as the winning run, but the next batter flys out and it's on to the 8th inning. Surprisingly, neither teams scores and we go to the 9th and Levi has to leave. Injured Banana John Deluca comes into play for the Bananas and Clay moves to pitcher and we are in a 1-1 count. Rail Riders have their top of the order up but the first two batters make outs. Don Trifari walks on 3 straight pitches and for the second game in a row he gets 2nd base. Brain Cass comes throught with an RBI single that somehow just got over Clay Petry's glove. Joel Orris doubles down the right field line and Kay who came to play Klele singled to score two more runs. Rail Raiders are up 21-18. The first two Bananas make outs and then Ryan Coletti hits a deep ball that got up in the darkness and tips off the outfielers mitt for a triple. Clay Petry also hits a ball off the left fielder's glove for a double and the Banana's are down by 2 but they run out of potassium and the Rail Riders hold on to win their 4 straight game. Savanna out hit the Riders 25-23 including 5 hits for Ryan Coletti and 5 for Brian Cass. Clay Petry was 4-6 with 7 RBI's.
