Mets Roast the Pigs with 9 Run 3rd Inning 16-5. The Mets took advantages of some sloppy Pig play when Dave Plishka led off the 1st inning with a single and scored on potential double play ball that eneded up in right field. Derek Margiotta walked and Derek Lynn hit a deep fly out that advanced both runners. With 2 outs Rob Thomas singled off the third baseman's glove and the shortstop got the deflection and tried to throw Rob out at first, but the ball went out of play. So both Rick and Derek scored and the Mets are up 3-0. Pete DeFrank singled in Rob and Gary Drillings hit an RBI single and the Mets are up 5-0 (all unearned runs). Somehow the scorekeeper messed up the entire inning and I had to fix it all from video UGH! Sloopy start across the board. The Iron Pigs got one run back after John Boeckel and Jon Weiner both single and Frank McNally hit a sac fly. The Pigs add another in the 2nd after 3 straight singles by Lance Zacker, Marty Egan and Jason Benson. With bases loaded, no outs they just get one run on a single by Mike Heisheimer. So it's 5-2 in the top of the 3rd when the Pigs give away the farm with 9 runs on 3 errors and 2 walks. The Mets are up 15-2 and only 2 runs are earned off rookie pitcher Frank McNally who was probably wishing he was back relaxing in Canada after watching all that. The game was just about over after that inning as the Pigs looked ready for the slaughter, but there was only thing left worth watching, MVPete's head first slide into 3rd (even though there was no play). Dave Plishka lead all batters with 3-4 hitting and the Mets stay in first place and the Pigs continue their slide down the standings. On a sad note we are all praying for the speedy recovery of Jason Lew who was badly burned in a firework accident and being treated in a burn center in Philly. I heard he is improving and should make a full recovery so his spirits are good, but he has been through hell so please offer him some encouragement in any way you can.
