Macon Bacon Grills the Yard Goats 14-12 after the Goats Took a 9-0 lead in the 1st Inning. Kudos to Macon pitcher Mark Armelino for keeping his composure after that first inning stampede. Bob Fass(3-4), Tony Garrett(3-4) and Dave Schachman(3-4) all had two hits in the inning, there were 3 walks and a total of 8 Goat hits in the 1st inning, which turned out to be 1/2 of their total hits for the entire game. The Bacon nibbled back with 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st and they were just getting warmed up. The Goats on the other hand seemed to think the game was over and took a 4 inning nap. When they finally woke up it was the 6th inning and Macon had just rallied for 5 runs to take a 12-9 lead. The top 4 of the Macon lineup were all sizzling with a combined 14 hits, Ralph Aiello(3-5), Ken O'Brien(3-5), Brian Guatta(4-5) and Steve Deblasio(4-5) who's 6th inning double was the key hit of the game. The Goats had just cut the lead to 12-11 and manager Deblasio was going to make sure they weren't going to come back. This was another tough loss for the Yard Goats who have now lost 5 straight games and are just one game above the Space Cowboys who won their first game Friday night. Both teams match up Sunday night and if the Space Cowboys win Sunday, they can get themselves out of the basement for the first time all season. Macon Bacon on the other hand, is right in the thick of things with their record to 2-2.
