Iron Pigs go Hog Wild over the Shorthanded Cowboys in Season's First Mercy Rule Game. The Pigs were loaded for this game and manager Chuck Puleo was batting himself 10th. John Boeckel worked a walk from rookie pitcher Rich Kirkpatrick and Jon Weiner and Brad Hartung both single to score John. With one out Jared Bruno singled in another, followed by singles from Jim Halpin, Eric Rosenberg, Marty Eagan and Lance Zacer to score 3 more. Chuck Puleo drov in the 6th run on a fielder's choice and the slaughter was on. The pigs outhit the cowboys 22-5 and win 17-2 after 5. Brad Hartung, Jared Bruno, Jim Halpin and Marty Eagan all had 3 hits with Jim Halpin picking up an opening day leading 4 RBIs. After the first inning the fans all headed over to the BBQ cause it was all over. A bright spot for the Cowboys was Jason Davis's inside the park homerun. Unfortunately the short handed Cowboys play Sunday night against the Panda's who are looking for their first win.
