That's what Happens When the Keg Runs Dry. Pandas Can the 1st Place Mets 12-8 with 5 runs in the 7th in a wacky inning. This game was back and forth till the final inning. The Pandas make their mark in the 1st when Shaun Spielberger and Ryan Smith(3-4) single and score on 2 out singles by Rob Guilbert(4-4) and Tom Clougher(3-3). Dave Plishka(4-4) singled then with two outs Derek Lynn doubled to score Dave. The hot Rob Thomas(3-3 after I reviewed the 4th inning play at first and ruled it a clean single) singled and Bob Plishka singled to tie the game at 2-2. No scores in the 2nd. The Mets get one in the 3rd after Dave Plishka doubled and scored on a single by Rick Beyer. Mets up 3-2. Mets add one more in the 4th after 2 errors and a Matthew Siekierka single. Down 4-2 in the 5th the Pandas get out of the can after Reece Spielberger singled, Jake Spielberger walked, Ryan Smith singled to load the bases. Brad Bennis and Rob Guilbert single in runs, Tom Clougher hits a sac and the Pandas are up 7-4. Mets get one back in the bottom of the 5th after Dave Plishka tripled to scored Kevin Zabransky who singled. In the bottom of the 6th Mets are down 2 and a crazy play happens. Derek Lynn singled, Rob Thomas singled and with two outs Pete DeFrank hits a hard grounder past 3rd that could have been fielded but still a single, but the ball gets by the left fielder who was charging to make a play at home and rolls to the fence and Pete ends up scoring and the Mets are back up 8-7 going into the top of the 7th. The Pandas get a break and get Shaun Spielberger on by error, Ryan Smith singled and Shaun gets to 3rd. Brad Bennis singled and the left short fielder tries to throw Ryan out at 2nd. Bad idea as the ball rolls into right field and Ryan. Ryan goes to third and Brad to 2nd. Then comes the dilemma of the night. Rob Guilbert hits the next pitch into the tennis courts and both runs score. The Mets pitcher claims that the runner on 2nd should stay at third but the rule is clear that all runners get 2 bases. There's some delay but the game resumes. Tom Clougher gets an infield single, Hadar singles and Adam Handler gets a big RBI single. The final run scores on a fielder's choice and the Pandas go on to knock of the first place Mets 12-8. Let that be a less to not run out of beer as the tensions can grow. We almost had to break the glass to get the emergency can of Budweiser out of the shed. But it was all laughs in the end. Big win for the Pandas.
