Game Highlights
The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia. Savanna drops to the Patriots 13-5 and now must face the Yard Goats in an all or nothing battle for the final playoff spot. It was Patriots manager Chris Stappas who led the charge in the 4th inning, with the Pats trailing 5-3. Louis Coppa had just doubled in the 3rd inning to score Calvin Kwock to give the Pats some life. Stappas lead off single got the Patriot bench cheering and it was contagious. Paul Martino, Kevin Dejong, Ben Alkin and Temple Houston all single and here comes the top of the order with the score tied. A wild throw home gave the Pats the lead. John Petrozzino singled in another. Dave Auerbach drilled one of Jon Mach's fastballs down the line for a double. Lou Coppa hit a sac fly and Bret Hartman singled to score Dave and it's 11-4 Pats. The Pats get two more in the 6th after John Petrozzino singled. Then came the play that had everyone speechless. Dave Auerbach singled to center and as John Petrozzino headed for 3rd, the ball from center got by the 3rd baseman and bounced off the wall. John scrambles home and beats the throw that gets by the catcher and rolls twards first. Dave Auerbach rounds third and outruns the catcher to the plate for run number 13 and that's how it ended. Your just gonna have to watch the replay on this. The Pats finish their season on a high note while the Patriots now have to play the Yard Goats Thursday with the Yard Goat now in control of their own destiny. You better get there early if you want a seat to this game. Interestingly the Pats only out hit the Bananas by one.
