Yard Goat Come Back to Beat the Rail Riders 26-11. The Rail Riders jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one but some controversial calls against both teams seemed wake up the Goats in the 4th. The Riders had the bases loaded in the 3rd with one out and Brian Cass singled on what looked like a bloop foul ball just behind 3rd. After some discussion it was ruled a single. It could have been a big inning for the Riders but the Goats responded with a double play to end the inning. In the top of the 4th, down by 4, Christian Hansen singled to lead off the inning. Frank Coppola singled and then a ground ball to 2nd led to the second questionable call, This time it was against the Rail Riders when Brain Cass scooped a low throw at 2nd. It appeared that the runner's foot never even reached the bag (see replay). The Goats responded with 9 runs in the inning capped by a Dave Schachman double to right that turned into a homer when the right fielder threw the ball to centerfield. lol. Goats are now up 11-6. Had the call at 2nd gone the other way the Goats would have scored just 3. Fred Heismeyer, Dave Schachman and Ralph Avallone (who had some nice plays in left) all were 4-5 for the Goats. The Goats combined for 32 hits with a lot finding holes between short and 3rd or up the middle. It's a big win for the Goats who are now just one game below 500 and a tough loss for the Riders who can only seem to beat teams with a winning record.
